The programme is designed to introduce learners to welding theory, how to set up the equipment, and health and safety. With the majority of time spent on practical welding, learners will inspect welds for defects and quality.

This introductory course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of welding. Students will leave the course with knowledge of the materials and processes used to make outdoor furniture and sculptures.
During the course you will learn and practice various welding techniques; however no projects as such will be undertaken. Please note there will be no assessments, certificates issued or unit standards credited at the end of the course.
