Introduction to Interior Design is an evening class taught once a week at Edinburgh College’s Granton campus. The course is designed for those interested in; interior design, starting a new hobby or pursuing a new career.
You will need little to no experience in interior design as this course will start with the very basics.
Interior design is the art of exploring and experimenting with a room or building’s creative potential. As an interior designer, you will design new and modern spaces or renovate old ones to improve functionality.
During this course you will develop your artistic abilities, gain a feel for how to design different spaces and learn a keen eye for light and colour. Classes will include teachings on the importance of structural changes, lighting, fixtures, fittings and furnishings in order to create the best design outcome.
This course is a stepping stone to further study of interior design or an entry-level job in the industry. Work created on these courses can support a portfolio of work for future course applications to specialist art and design courses, supporting school leavers or a career change.

Edinburgh College was formed on 1 October 2012 as part of the merger of Edinburgh's Jewel and Esk, Telford, and Stevenson colleges. The college has four campuses, all of which were previously the campuses of the constituents of the merger:
On 17 April 2012, Edinburgh's Jewel and Esk, Telford, and Stevenson colleges collectively submitted to the Scottish Government a business case for their merger into a single "Edinburgh" college.
The merger was approved by the Scottish Ministers, and came into force on 1 October 2012. Edinburgh College values it’s rich history, especially those of the many legacy colleges that have come together over the years to better serve the learners of the Edinburgh and Lothian’s region.
A project is currently underway to collate the history of Edinburgh College and its legacy institutions and to create an archive of material to tell its story. Lots of interesting items have already been uncovered including old prospectuses, student newsletters, photographs and a log book from Ramsay Technical Institute dated 1923.
Autodesk Advance Steel is used to create and detail 3D steel structures. This introductory-level course teaches the use of Advance Steel’s key functionality, tools, commands and workflows.
Completing this course will enable you to design and plan rooms for a domestic residence by developing your basic skills of interior design.
You will learn the features, commands, and techniques of Inventor and this will be applied to real world scenarios using many practical workshop exercises.
By the end of this course you should be able to Understand and use the different types of Lighting and Rendering systems available in the software
This is a beginner Navisworks training course.
