What to wear: We remind you that sparks and fire are a hazard of welding and may damage clothing. Please ensure that clothing is flame retardant and appropriate for this working environment.
Ideal clothing would be denim pants and a long sleeved shirt. Leather CSA approved safety footwear is mandatory in the Dalhousie laboratory for welding. Inappropriate footwear will not be permitted. Eye protection and lab coats will be provided.
Evaluation
A written test and a practical test will be administered at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion.

The curriculum provides the student with common core Level 1 apprenticeship training, to increase the student's general level of knowledge about the Welding and Metal Fabricating industries.
This is an introductory welding course designed to introduce the student to welding shop safety, terminology, and tools and equipment and to provide hands-on experience with the welding tools and equipment used in a welding shop.
Upon successful completion of this program, you are eligible to test for the Canadian Welding Bureau Qualifications based on your level of competence.
This course is designed for anyone who wishes to become qualified as a welding inspector
