Practise listening and speaking about everyday social situations such as meeting new people, describing yourself, your family members and friends, and expressing opinions. Focus on pronunciation and basic grammar in interactive and conversational classes.
How am I Assessed?
This is a non-credit course without letter or numerical grades. You receive verbal feedback on your conversation and grammar skills from your instructor during class. Written homework is typically corrected in class. Some lesson modules may include quizzes.
Technology Requirements
You’ll need access to a laptop or desktop computer or tablet, an email account, and internet access and an up-to-date web browser. For real-time classes, you’ll also need access to a video camera and microphone.
Textbook
This course requires the purchase of the textbook Via Del Corso A1, which is used for Beginner 1, Beginner 2 and Lower Intermediate 1 levels. This course covers units 1-4. Students can order this book from the UBC Bookstore.

The Italian International Language Elementary and Secondary Credit program provides International language and cultural instruction for elementary students at St. Thomas More Catholic School.
You will learn about Italian language and culture through short lectures and videos, and you will speak Italian in every class, preparing you for conversations and travel experiences in Italian.
Topics will include greetings and introductions, occupations and studies, the telephone, dates and times, asking for prices and travel information, personal details, language for use in bars and restaurants, making hotel reservations, banking and invitations.
