Our Jazz program is based on technique, strength, flexibility and musicality. We strive to increase the dancer’s knowledge and proficiency in floor work, choreography and creativity so they learn how to perform using the whole body.

Our Jazz classes are high energy with a focus on sharp movements and physical strength. Our dancers are always learning new jumps, dance combinations and floor work.
We currently offer Jazz classes starting at age 6 with our students learning appropriate technique based on their age and level of dance. Jazz classes incorporate current, fun, and upbeat music in order to achieve a stylized way to dance with power and purpose.
Capitol Dance Company has been serving San Jose and the South Bay Area since 1978, educating students two years old to sixty years young in the art of dance. For over 43 years, we have grown and expanded while maintaining our positive reputation for quality dance instruction. We are a family run business that is fortunate to be able to share our love of dance with you!
Teen Jazz includes complex combinations. Students are going to master multiple turns, quicker jumps (etc.) with further development of technique and style.
Civic Dance Arts Adult Advanced Beginner Jazz 2B is designed for the advanced beginner wanting to refine their skills further in order to help them move to the next level. Students will focus on executing complex steps with speed as well as working on showmanship. Teacher approval is required.
We host workshops, classes, and training intensives across many levels and genres of movement arts, from hip-hop to bellydance, contemporary to contortion, African Dance and Drum, jazz to juggling and more.
Jazz classes can be patterned in any of these styles or a combination of them. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style. Each level of jazz is a continuation of the previous level and increases in difficulty.
