Using a variety of music, students train in flexibility, rhythm, and control incorporating the basic principles of this dance style. Classes are offered for ages 3 years and up, based on skill level and experience, with beginner, intermediate and advanced jazz classes available.
Histown was birthed over nineteen years ago when we saw an opportunity to provide training in several genres of dance in a Christian setting, where dancers can use their God-given gifts and talents for ministry, outreach and entertainment.
With an emphasis on strong technique and professional training, it is our goal to provide a positive, fun and encouraging atmosphere where every dancer feels the love of Christ. We also wanted to help dancers see there is more to dance than the applause of man and that because God deserves our very best they should strive for excellence.
We encourage each dancer to be the best they can be, without feeling the need or pressure to compete with each other, and view dance as a team activity where it's important to support and cheer on their fellow dancers along the way. It is an honor for us to work with such a wonderful group of teachers and students who share our passion for the art of dance.
This class will combine contemporary artistry with jazz athleticism. Class will include an energizing full body warm up, some across the floor/improv, and a longer center combination.
Teen Jazz includes complex combinations. Students are going to master multiple turns, quicker jumps (etc.) with further development of technique and style.
Civic Dance Arts Adult Advanced Beginner Jazz 2B is designed for the advanced beginner wanting to refine their skills further in order to help them move to the next level. Students will focus on executing complex steps with speed as well as working on showmanship. Teacher approval is required.
Class begins with a structured, progressive warm-up that emphasizes technique and flexibility. Following warm-up, class moves into choreography that is dynamic and energized - be prepared to get moving, and to let that tension go!
Lyrical Jazz is a weekly dance class designed to introduce expression into a dancer’s technical skills. They will learn how to tell a story through their dance as they learn ballet and jazz techniques.
