Jazz/Lyrical I is for dancers ages 8-11, Jazz/Lyrical II is for dancers ages 11-14, and Jazz/Lyrical III is for dancers ages 14-18 who love to express themselves through their physical body.
The class consists of a warm-up, stretches, working on body isolations, across the floor exercises, and a center combination. An emphasis is placed on interpreting music and emotion into movement and dancing from the heart.
Students are required to have had at least one year of ballet training and are strongly encouraged to supplement this class with a weekly ballet technique class.
Children love to move! Encourage them through Leap’s dance classes in ballet, pointe, tap, hip hop, jazz/lyrical and creative movement. Teachers focus on the art and technique of dance, guiding students’ imaginations while incorporating classical steps.
We encourage our dancers to sign up for the full year because each lesson builds on the last. Our spring session ends with a special performing opportunity for all of the students.
Jazz combines many styles and techniques from ethnic and contemporary dance, musical theater, swing, funk and ballet. Using a variety of music, students train in flexibility, rhythm, and control incorporating the basic principles of this dance style
Learn to Swing dance without a partner! This class focuses on building a strong vocabulary of classic jazz steps, improvisation skills, and personal style.
An introductory class that exposes young dancers to formal training in classical, contemporary, and street dance styles. The class provides a solid foundation for the developing dancer. Suitable for children ages 7 -9, this class meets once per week
Jazz Dance Class is offered by NC Dance District with a mission to create countless opportunities for local dancers to train, perform and live out their dreams.
Working towards full height battments, extensions and leaps (right/left/center). Float leaps, chaine jete introduced. Double Pirouettes required.
