Explore fundamental jazz movements made popular by legendary choreographers and teachers in this beginner-friendly program. After a series of warm-ups, stretches and turn preparations, you’ll practice passes across the floor, incorporating walks, spins and jumps. Each element will be broken down with a view toward proper execution and the “sharpness” jazz dancing is known for. During the second half of class, you’ll piece together a short choreography.
Before long, you’ll be polishing jetes, jazz pirouettes, soutenu turns and more. Like our ballet program, this class is designed for adults who want to learn technique just for the fun of it: no competitions and no stress!

This class is recommended for Int/Adv. dancers who have had prior experience. Class begins with a warm up to engage the joints and core muscles and increase flexibility.
Jazz Funk is a style of dance also called street jazz. It consists of movement from ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, and lyrical. It is fun and expressive. Some of the movements of Jazz Funk are isolations, flexibility syncopation(off beat), jazz hands, and jumps.Â
Calling all dancers, used-to-be dancers, and wannabe dancers! Pas de bourree your way to a one-hour jazz jam, including a classic warm up (isolations!), progressions & combos (pivot turn, jazz square!), and a cool down (no splits required!).
