Jazz is a comprehensive class that begins with a thorough warm-up and across-the-floor, ending with a choreographed combination. This art form is informed by traditional African & European folk dances and was influenced by the 1600s enslaved Africans.
We host workshops, classes, and training intensives across many levels and genres of movement arts, from hip-hop to bellydance, contemporary to contortion, African Dance and Drum, jazz to juggling and more.
Jazz classes can be patterned in any of these styles or a combination of them. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style. Each level of jazz is a continuation of the previous level and increases in difficulty.
This class will combine contemporary artistry with jazz athleticism. Class will include an energizing full body warm up, some across the floor/improv, and a longer center combination.
