Jazz dance can incorporate a range of dance styles, often depending on the era of the music being used. Often, the traditional technique of Jazz dance is then given a modern flavour. At times, we celebrate past dance movements and fashions by creating period pieces, based off popular dance from that era. It can be almost anything, and our students love the variety that Jazz offers!
Lyrical is an expressive form of dance that can incorporate elements of Jazz, Ballet and Acro, and is often associated with clearly displayed emotional moods and reference to song lyrics. Lyrical is always beautiful to watch, and our students love expressing themselves in this way.
Students will learn one Jazz dance and one Lyrical dance to perform at our end of year concert.
Our journey at Maxi-Jazz Dance Studio started with founder Maxine Johnson in 1987, orginally known as Maxi-Jazz School Of Dance.
Maxine created a studio culture full of love, support, amazing performance opportunities for all students and a leader in the dance industry for over 20 years.
We have learnt, grown and developed so much over the past 33 years and will continue to share our passion for the performing arts, lead the way in ‘doing things differently’ for dance studios, and empower students to become more than they ever imagined possible.
At MJDS we are continually working towards a studio environment that makes students feel included and everyone is welcome to express themselves through the are of dance. Our teacher celebrate achievements, respecting that each student learns in different ways.It is with your help that we create an inclusive studio full of Acceptance and ensure our students and families receive the best dance experience and education.
Jazz dance classes are offered by Backstage Dance Academy.
ADTC Covers a range of different Jazz styles in their programmes including jazz/funk, broadway jazz and technical jazz.
At the Artz Collective we have seen the benefits of our great Jazz Dance syllabus where teachers can instill unbelievable technical ability into students through Jazz Dance
A jazz class starts with warm up, technical work in the centre and at the corner and the concludes with choreography.
