More experienced dancers are encouraged to study various styles of jazz, including Fosse and Luigi, and work on flexibility as they evolve into a technically sound dancer.
Deborah Mason is the founder and executive director of the Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center (DMPAC), formerly the Deborah Mason School of Dance (DMSD). A lifelong Cambridge, MA resident and community activist, Deborah founded DMSD in 1975.

Jazz Funk is a style of dance also called street jazz. It consists of movement from ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, and lyrical. It is fun and expressive. Some of the movements of Jazz Funk are isolations, flexibility syncopation(off beat), jazz hands, and jumps.
Students will learn the defining movement concepts of jazz dance including isolations of the body, grounded musicality, improving performance quality and developing a capacity for complex rhythms and movement patterns
