His partner is just an abstract fixed point in the room and completely unerotic. In a cultural history perspective, Jive can be compared to an abstract painting by Picasso.
The Jive grew out of the Blues and has had many names: Boogie Woogie, Jitterbug, Bebop and Rock`n`Roll. They all mean almost the same and can only be separated by slight time differences in their development stage. The Jive combines these styles. Its beginning can be traced to the end of the roaring twenties, a decade still surrounded by a legendary, almost mythical aura.
After the chaos of the First World War people were ready to devote themselves entirely to music, dance and happiness. This is why this decade has had such an influence on dance culture. With Black Friday in 1929, the beginning of a worldwide economical depression, this legendary decade came to a sudden end.
InStep Dance Studio principals Chris & Anne Leitch have been dancing since their early teens. With over 40 years of teaching experience they have taught thousands of people the pleasurable art of ballroom dancing.
Their approach to teaching is first and foremost to have fun. Even if you have two left feet and no sense of rhythm, their teaching method will have you feeling comfortable from the very first lesson.
Lessons and classes are available for Beginners, Improvers, Wedding Couples, Medallists, and Competitors.
Beginner Classes are 10 week sessions during which you learn the basics of Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha, and Jive.
This will give you the skills to comfortably get up at any function and dance with confidence.
It is clearly an advantage to have a partner, but this is not essential.
Improver classes which add new variations to the basic steps and improve your dancing ability follow on from that.
Beginner or experienced dancer, your needs can be catered for in a friendly, fun atmosphere in either a class or private lesson situation.

Jive dance classes are offered by UCan2 Dance Studio. Beginner dancer, mall groups, medal training, improving your technique, or competition training; whatever your reason, private lessons bring confidence, enjoyment and enhance your skills.

Jive dance classes are offered by Supreme Dance Centre. Jive is a dance style in 4/4 time that originated in the United States from African/American in the early 1930’s. In competition it is danced at a speed of approx. 40-44 bars per minute.
Step by Step provide classes for all levels and ages; children classes, beginner classes and more advanced classes.
The Jive that most people think of, the one that is danced at family parties and weddings, is generally Rock 'n' Roll Jive.
