The Seido Junior Program teaches a modified karate syllabus, children in this program follow the same grade structure as the adult program. The program introduces children to the many benefits of traditional karate training such as fitness, focus, respect, courtesy, self-defence and most importantly; a non-quitting spirit.
Training focuses on developing karate skills; there is also an emphasis on improving self-confidence, how to keep safe, learning respect and responsibility for others.
Karate means literally ‘empty hand’ in Japanese - unarmed combat where your body is the weapon, and was developed in the orient several hundred years ago.
Seido Karate, a traditional style, can help you to be fitter, better disciplined and able to defend yourself against great odds.
Our school in Richmond, provides a structured course with qualified and experienced instructors. Classes are available for students of all ages and experience from the complete beginner to the Black Belt.
History:
Being a member of the World Seido Karate Organisation means you'll belong to a legitimate, worldwide structured organisation that has strict standards and syllabus, and overseen by the chairman (a Japanese Grandmaster) Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura.
A world-renowned karateka (practioner of karate), Nakamura is a ninth dan (degree) black belt with over fifty years of experience in practicing and teaching in the martial arts. An expert in the use of oriental weapons, Nakamura has given numerous martial arts lectures and demonstrations in many countries around the world.
Each program is focused on developing martial arts skills suitable to the age groups in terms of physical and social development. We work on skills and concepts to develop our students for karate and life.
In this class, we focus on building self-confidence and coordination, with an emphasis on inclusion, everyone works to their own highest ability. Students will gradually build on their karate knowledge as they move up through their belts, with a goal to moving up to the next level.
Children learn genuine Japanese karate in structured classes, helping essential Shitoryu karate movements become second nature, all the way to black belt. Sensei Sandra delivers classes every week.  Our class environment is quiet, although kids shout loudly when instructed! Oss!
Karate in the hands of people, without these ideals, becomes nothing more than a effective tool to hurt people with. The aim of training then is to not only polish the skill of karate but to polish our spirit, and attitude; To shed the ego and strive towards the goal of character perfection.
