Repetitive execution of techniques, with movement in classical stances forms the basis of good posture, fitness, speed and effective techniques. It is from this base that actual combat applications are developed with latitude for individualism at later stages of development.
Basic training sessions test fitness and resolve as students strive to ‘keep going’ tirelessly, despite the physical demands of having to do another 100 repetitions of whatever techniques are being practiced.
Classes often move on to self-defense applications that incorporate the very basics that have just been sweated out.
