All of our full time keyboard courses cover the key areas of technical skill associated with playing the keyboard, such as right and left hand independence, timing, feel, groove, improvisation, scales and reading.

The London Music School offers unrivalled one-to-one tuition, harmony and theory classes, and song-writing and sight-reading lessons. Full time courses include frequent participation in group workshops and recording sessions, giving students the opportunity to widen their experience in live performance and recording settings, working with other musicians and accompanying vocalists.

Directed by experienced keyboard players Gary Baldwin (Hammond Organ specialist) and Bob Haddrell, our courses aim to take students on a rewarding journey through contemporary music education as they develop their skill and confidence with their instrument.

Gary and Bob’s years of teaching and performance experience, working with many famous artists and appearing on numerous recordings, has given them brilliant knowledge and skill in all styles of playing.

The genres covered in the keyboard course are both essential to the repertoire of any musician and taught in a way that is accessible to students. The keyboard course covers rock, classical, blues, soul, jazz, funk, classical, Latin and more.

The course places emphasis on the need to perform and students will gain experience in live performance, session playing and playing as part of a band.

  • Gary Balwin is Head of Keyboards at the London Music School. Gary is one of London’s top piano/keyboard players and is renowned for his B3 organ playing. Gary has worked with the likes of Jimmy Smith, Portishead and Joss Stone and plays regularly at the world famous Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club in London. Gary teaches in many of the best music colleges in South East England including Bow Boy’s and Bow Girl’s Schools.
