The L3 AET Award in Education and Training is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching/training sessions and how to assess and give constructive and developmental feedback.

To ensure effective learning, all trainers/assessors need to understand and be able to use these skills as a minimum:

  • the roles and responsibilities of a trainer/tutor

  • planning, facilitating and delivering inclusive teaching and learning

  • understanding assessment

Our training courses will deliver these skills and much, much more.

As part of your course fee you will receive a copy of the definitive textbook “The Award in Education and Training” by Ann Gravells, published by Learning Matters – Sage Publications Ltd.

The Award is the first introductory qualification currently recommended for teachers, trainers and assessors who work in the education and training sector, particularly those new into or wish to get into teaching – they may then go on, if required, to undertake either the Certificate or Diploma qualifications.

The units you will cover will qualify you with a better understanding of:

  • planning and delivering a teaching session

  • the role of the tutor

  • the training cycle

  • meeting individual learner needs

  • teaching and learning methods

  • assessment

  • evaluation strategies

The AET is a professional teaching/training qualification and the course requires your active participation and the completion of coursework assignments which have been approved by City & Guilds. Assessment includes delivering a 20-minute teaching session to the rest of the group.

You will need to be able to express yourself effectively both orally and in writing. You will need a qualification or experience in the subject area you intend to teach.
