Every fortnight 1,230,000 new smartphones are sold in the UK. But what is the fate of abandoned smartphones? One of the biggest downsides of electronics is that their components are toxic to the environment and most of the time end up being thrown away. We generate over 50 million tons of electronic waste worldwide each year, with much of that be irresponsibly discarded.

By creating more technically skilled people in the UK will increase the current ratio of reusability of many electronic gadgets. If more and more local people offer repairs, refurbishment or recycling services then the possibility of these electronics being discarded will be less. So we aim to hit two birds with one stone.
