At WVKN, we want every customer to feel welcome and supported
Because the atmosphere of the store is as important as the product selection, diversity and inclusion are of paramount importance to us. At WVKN, we want every customer to feel welcome and supported.
We promise to be socially and environmentally conscious. What does this mean?
In addition to only carrying yarns and notions that have been manufactured with respect for people, animals and the environment, we’re using recycled paper wherever we can, including business cards, shopping bags, brochures, labels, and even toilet paper! Our mailer bags and trash bags are also all compostable. If you have a question on any of our vendors, please ask! We’re happy to tell you about our experiences.
We are also trying to limit single use plastic wherever we can.
We don’t claim to be perfect or 100% of anything. We claim to be reading and educating ourselves as much as we can. We promise to keep trying to do our little part to save this beautiful planet. And we promise to consider your suggestions!
Learn the basic foundation stitches and grow your crochet skills. From the absolute beginner to the person that needs a refresher. This is a great starting point for nailing the foundation of the craft. If you practice what is taught in this class, then you're off to an amazing start!
You will learn how to make t-shirt yarn, and then learn the basics of crochet including the chain stitch, single crochet stitch, crocheting a circle, increasing stitches, and how to finish off/add to your project.
Back by popular demand: learn to knit a basket using giant yarn! In this workshop you'll be working with a big ball of felted wool and huge needles. We’ll be knitting our baskets from pure New Zealand wool yarn that’s hand-felted by women artisans in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Whatever your experience level, I help knitters follow and fully understand their patterns, create new designs, and guide them carefully through the process of fixing simple and complex mistakes.
In this class we will discuss the value and purpose for various types of increases and decreases. We’ll create simple squares that allow you to repeat the stitch often enough to put it in your memory.
