The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sports is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
It introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification.
What Will I Learn?
You will study a range of units such as Fitness Testing and Training, Development of Personal Fitness; Practical Sport; Anatomy and Physiology for Sport; Effects of Exercise on the Body Systems; Injury in Sport; Planning and Leading Sports Activities and Planning and Running a Sports Event.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grades A*- D including Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh or completion of a full vocational programme at Level 1 which must also include GCSE Maths and English/Welsh at grades A*- D or equivalent such as Level 1 ESW Communications and Application of Number. Learners on this course need to have satisfactory clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
Assessment
To gain the Level 2 Diploma in Sports Development, you must complete a range of written and practical assessments. Assessment will cover practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. You will also have to complete externally marked exams.
Career Progression
On successful completion of this course and gaining a merit grade, you may be able to progress to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. You could also apply for employment within a number of areas in the sports industry, e.g. a leisure centre attendant, or sports coach.
