This Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction) qualification enables delegates to demonstrate and recognise skills, knowledge, understanding and competence in a real workplace environment so they can work as a Plant Operator within the construction industry.
Taking this Level 2 in Plant Operations also allows delegates to upgrade to the blue CPCS or NPORS-CSCS Competent Operator Card. The qualification enables delegates to show they are a competent Plant Operator. As such, we can tailor the course to specialise in a particular item of plant:

Course Outline
We assess this NVQ over two on-site assessments while the delegate is carrying out their day-to-day duties. Rather than producing a portfolio over time, our specifically assigned assessors gather evidence in the form of photographs, videos, method statements and professional discussions to take forward for examination.
To pass this qualification, delegates must successfully complete and achieve all three Mandatory Units and Optional Units. The amount of optional units taken will depend on the type of plant machinery.

Preparing and operating excavator cranes to lift and transfer loads in the workplace
Preparing and operating rough terrain masted forklifts to lift and transfer loads
Preparing and operating telescopic handlers to lift and transfer
Preparing and operating lorry loaders or knuckle booms to lift and transfer loads
Preparing and operating wheeled loading shovels to extract loose materials
Preparing and operating skid steer loaders to extract loose materials
Preparing and operating loader compressors to extract loose materials
Preparing and operating forward tipping dumpers to receive, transport and discharge materials
Preparing and operating rear-tipping dump trucks to receive, transport and discharge materials
Preparing and operating tractors with towed equipment for non-agricultural activities
Preparing and operating scissor-type mobile elevating work platforms - MEWP
Preparing and operating boom-type mobile elevating work platforms - MEWP
Preparing and operating mast climber-type mobile elevating work platforms -MEWP
On Completion
Upon successfully completing this qualification, delegates will have the skills, knowledge, understanding, and competence to progress to a higher-level qualification in the same or similar occupational area.
The awarding body is NOCN CSkills who are recognised as industry leaders in the construction industry. As a result of completing the Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction), delegates can upskill to the Blue Competent Operator Card.
Who Should Attend?
Any person or employee who works within construction who needs to obtain a nationally recognised qualification in plant operations with a focus on attachments. This NVQ is also required both for red CPCS Plant Operations trained operator cardholders and red NPORS-CSCS Plant Operations trained operator cardholders in order to upgrade to the Blue Competent Operator Card.
