The Level 3 Children’s Care Learning & Development: Practice and Theory is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in a career in the Childcare industry or wish to progress to Higher Education. This is located in the Health, Social and Childcare (HSC) department.
The programme includes a range of units all designed to provide the knowledge and skills required for working in Childcare settings. You will study the Core qualification in Year 1 together with Level 3 units across the remainder of the 2 year course. Successful completion of the whole Level 3 course is equivalent to 3 A Levels

Following successful completion of the L3 qualification you may choose to go straight into the workplace where you can further your training. Opportunities available include working as a:
Teaching Assistant, Childminder, Nursery Practitioner, Care Worker, Preschool Worker, Out of School Childcare Worker, Cylch Meithrin Worker. You can also progress to study a Foundation Degree within NPTC Group of Colleges or further your education at university.
Course Modules
Work Placement And Engagement With The Sector
As well as studying the theory, you will also have the added advantage of a mandatory work placement within the sector, this allows you to put the theory into practice.
A wide range of professionals who currently work in Health, Social Care & Childcare provide an insight into working in the sectors when they visit the college to give talks.
You will have the chance to ask them questions and learn more about the different roles. Visits to universities and the opportunity to take part in skills competitions also form a part of the course.
