This unit specifies the outcomes required to perform basic rigging work associated with the movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists (including mast climbing hoists), placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, perimeter safety screens and shutters; and cantilever crane loading platforms for licensing purposes.
This unit requires the applicant to be able plan the work, select and inspect the equipment, set up task, erect structures and plant and dismantle structures and plant. This unit is based upon the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.
Entry Requirements
Hold a current Dogging High Risk Work Licence
Payment prior to course commencement see terms and conditions in the student handbook.
Minimum 18 years of age (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
Provide three (3) forms of identification
The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
As a minimum, Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills (or equivalent)
What to wear: Long trousers, long sleeve shirt, enclosed footwear (as a minimum)

A basic rigging licence encompass the requirements for a dogging licence. To apply for a basic rigging licence you must hold, or have previously passed assessment for, a dogging licence.
This basic riggers course provides participants with the required skills and knowledge to enable them to safely and conduct rigging in a variety of situations in compliance with Work Safe WA Standards and Regulations.
We offer industry-recognised dogging and rigging training right here in Tomago, Newcastle, inside our purpose-built training facility, or we can provide training on-site in your workplace.
The course covers the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively use basic rigging techniques to move and place loads using various types of rigging equipment.
Participants will gain an understanding of what is required to safely use load shifting (earthmoving) equipment equipped with rated lifting points for slinging loads.
