Lyrical is a fusion of Ballet and jazz, performed to slower music with very fluid movements – characterized by the expression of the dancer’s inner emotion. We offer Lyrical classes for our competitive team beginning at age 5. Lyrical dance is the fusion of ballet and jazz technique. A key element in looking at a lyrical piece is seeing the movements done in a flowing or continuous pattern. Lyrical dance interprets music or words, showing the audience the emotion of the particular piece. The lines are traditional in nature with a technique base that determines the correct placement of the body angles.
Dimensions in Dance opened its doors to approximately 35 students in 1986. What started out as a small dream has grown into Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge’s leading dance school. Dimensions offers a variety of disciplines in dance including: Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acro and Contemporary.
We offer dancing classes at both the recreational and competitive level. At Dimensions, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the Arts; therefore, we try to keep our classes and costumes as affordable as possible. We are one of the very few studios to offer a family rate for dance classes.

This choreography-based class is for elementary and higher level dancers who want to give voice to their feelings, passion and emotion. Lyrical dance incorporates jazz, ballet and modern dance techniques and is known for its expressiveness and musicality.Â
Dancers must be in grade two advanced ballet and taking a minimum of two ballet classes per week in order to study Lyrical/Contemporary. At our dance studio your creativity and self expression will definitely be enhanced during these dance classes.
