Lyrical and Contemporary dance classes is a combination of ballet and jazz techniques. This form of dance uses poetic expressive movement to interpret the music. The objective of this class is to provide the dancers with a chance to perform routines that are based on feelings and emotion while telling a story.

Lyrical dance is the fusion of ballet and jazz technique. Expression from the inner emotion is a primary factor in choreographing and interpreting this art form.
Lyrical classes are offered by The Dance Theatre Performing Arts. Stylized dance that incorporates the grace and flowing lines of ballet with the emotional and dynamic movements of jazz
These classes are based on the Association of International Dance Teachers. Students learn expressive movement and patterning through both lyrical and traditional jazz styles. Students are placed according to age and ability.
A combination of jazz, ballet, and emotion, lyrical dancers will focus on portraying emotion from a song while using proper dance technique and control.
Dancers will develop their strength, flexibility, control, technique and emotion to create a routine that is expressive of a story. Classes run all dance year for 45 minutes a week, with a year-end recital routine.
