Lyrical is an elegant form of dance, which draws on the technique of ballet.
It consists of very soft and fluid movements and it is often performed to slow, lyrical ballads. Plimmerton School of Dance offers Open Lyrical classes to students from the age of 10. Beginners Lyrical is from age 10 and Intermediate Lyrical is for our college age dancers.
Advanced Lyrical is for students who need to be extended in this style. The 45-minute class consists of a warm up, stretch and progressions across the floor.
The dancers also work on a short routine each lesson. The dancers are extended as they work on technique and learn new leaps and turns, which are not covered in grade classes.
Plimmerton School of Dance is a dance school helping children develop a love of dance. With a range of dance styles available, children benefit in many ways. They increase their concentration and confidence while having fun.
With small class sizes, attention can be given to each individual allowing students to achieve their potential.
The dancing year follows the Primary School Terms with a full concert at the end of the year. Exams, (which are optional) are held in term three every year from the age five.

This is a question asked more often than anything else when you talk about contemporary & Lyrical....what is the difference? The truth is its very subjective, I believe that Lyrical follows the classical technique with the added contemporary technique but contemporary is all grounded.Â
