DurationLyrical is a form of creative expression, it is story set in motion. This form of dance is a fusion of ballet, jazz and modern styles which combines one’s own expression along with technical skills.

These dance styles are a fusion of ballet, jazz and modern and challenges dancers to use motion to interpret the music and express emotion.
Lyrical dance combines ballet technique with the freedom of jazz and contemporary dance. Our classes place an emphasis on balance, extension and control while using the body to express emotion. Background in ballet or jazz is recommended.
Offered to the Level 4Â ballet students in our recreational program, lyrical combines both ballet and jazz fundamentals with an emphasis on emotive storytelling and fluid movement.
The modern/lyrical program at Dance Steps is for students 11 years and older with a minimum of 3 years dance training (or at the Intermediate Foundations level of ballet).
