Course Details

Under NUS then Provost Prof Tan Eng Chye's directive and encouragement, and with 10 years of experience running the NUS-GeorgiaTech Double Master Programme in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (DMP), the M.Sc.(SCM) programme was launched in 2011.

The programme has since grown in popularity and reputation. It is an inter-faculty programme between The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific (TLI–AP), Industrial Systems Engineering & Management (ISEM) at College of Design and Engineering and the Department of Analytics & Operations (DAO) at NUS Business School.

The M.Sc.(SCM) programme is ideal for graduates with good honours degrees in engineering, mathematics, computing, business administration or other related technical disciplines, who are keen to advance themselves in a career in the logistics and supply chain industry.

The programme admits a balance mix of local and international students including both full–time and part-time students.

The M.Sc.(SCM) programme is taught by top academics from TLI–Asia Pacific, ISEM & DAO and is endorsed by Singapore’s top economic planning agency, the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Workforce Singapore (WSG) and SPRING Singapore, Singapore’s national productivity, standards and SMEs promotion agency.

It is an integrated programme combining business and engineering aimed at developing graduates with a comprehensive skill set for planning, designing and operating supply chains.

Special emphasis is placed on applying decision and analytical methodologies to solve real world problems and hence the compulsory industry project which will enable graduates to work effectively in the logistics and supply chain industry. This is complemented with site visits to logistics and manufacturing companies.

On completion of the programme, M.Sc.(SCM) graduates will be well equipped with knowledge of global logistics, analytics and industrial engineering to take on a challenging career in the logistics and supply chain industry.

The M.Sc.(SCM) graduation requirements include three cores and five elective courses and an industry-based project. The minimum and maximum candidature for full-time students are one year and two years, respectively. For part-time students, the minimum and maximum candidature are 2 years and 4 years respectively.

 

Admission Requirements

Admission into the M.Sc. (SCM) programme is on a competitive basis.  Applicants meeting the minimum requirements below are invited to apply for admission:

  • At least an Honours (with Merit) degree or equivalent in Engineering, Science, Computing, Mathematics, Business Administration or any related discipline from institutions of recognized standing*.

 

  • Candidates opting for the programme on part-time should preferably have 1 to 3 years of relevant practical work experience after their first degree.

 

  • Those with at least 2 years of working experiences in the Logistics/Supply Chain Management industry will be considered favourably under discretionary admission.

  •  

  • TOEFL (internet-based test)> 85 or IELTS (academic)> 6.0 is required if your first language is not English. You may be waived from this requirement if you have completed your degree programme taught entirely in English, situated in an English speaking country, for example (non-exhaustive list) Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom, USA.
     
    The TOEFL/IELTS result is only valid for 2 years after the test and should be valid at the beginning of the application period.
