To better help address some of the many gaps in mental health support for people with diabetes, Diabetes Canada collaborated with JDRF Canada to launch the Mental Health + Diabetes Training Program(This link opens in a new window).
This bilingual program, designed and implemented by JDRF Canada with the support of Diabetes Canada, provides knowledge and tools to help registered Canadian mental health providers deliver the best support to their clients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, and expand the capacity of health systems to meet this currently underserved need.
Mental Health + Diabetes Directory
As a result, JDRF Canada and Diabetes Canada are now able to launch the Mental Health + Diabetes Directory(This link opens in a new window).
The Directory is intended to provide people living with or affected by diabetes with access to information about registered mental health providers who have engaged in additional training to understand the reality of living with diabetes to provide mental health support specific to addressing the realities of living with diabetes.
Every mental health provider included in the Directory has successfully completed the Mental Health + Diabetes Training Program.
Both the Training Program and Directory will help to close gaps in both the delivery of and access to mental health supports for those living with diabetes across Canada.

This course will provide training to perform cupping therapy and use functional cupping to help with improving joint mobility and deep facial release.
Cupping is a technique in which special cups are placed on the surface of the skin to create a strong suction of air, electric charge or heat to extract toxins and stimulate blood flow.
This course introduces students to the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes.
This course is designed for teachers interested in current research, theory and approaches related to introducing mindfulness in classroom settings.
Each meditation course will examine the techniques of: relaxation, visualization and guided meditation.
