Mindful course is offered by HEART - Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre
Our vision
is to create a vibrant and welcoming space for a wide range of people to meet, mix, work and play
Our aim
is for HEART to thrive through the ideas and activities of the people who use it
Background and history
HEART is the flagship project of Headingley Development Trust (HDT) and represents the culmination of a five-year dream to keep a much loved old primary school building in community use.
It is a genuine community business which operates without any grant support for its running costs, while at the same time paying off the loan taken out to support its establishment.
One of the key factors in achieving this was the willingness of local residents to support it through personal financial investment; we remain grateful to everyone who continues to support HEART in the ongoing development and improvement of the centre.
Who we are
HEART is Headingley’s community, enterprise and arts centre.
Home to Assembly Bar + Kitchen, Tiny Boo play area for pre-schoolers, and Pulse co-working space, HEART is a space for professional gatherings, private functions, and community classes, and hosts a rich programme of arts and events.
HEART opened in 2011 thanks to the hard work of our local community who strived to keep this wonderful building in public use.
HEART’s vision is to create a vibrant and welcoming space for a wide range of people to meet, mix, work and play.

Support HEART
We would like to thank all of our staff, volunteers, and local community for supporting us to return to business as usual.
We have been so overwhelmed by the generosity of HEART supporters over this time and hope you can still continue to offer that support.
The Centre is still recovering and, unlike many organisations, HEART has to be entirely self-sufficient; we don’t receive grants or any other kind of subsidy, so have to make every penny and pound ourselves.
As ever, whether it’s £1 or £100, it all makes a difference.
but it’s scary not knowing how to get out of it. In this course, you get to learn about the stages of a conflict, the approaches to resolution, the different outcomes, and much more.
We deliver evidence-based time sensitive psychological therapies and wellbeing programmes for men, women, young people, groups and businesses.
Most of us have experienced stress at some time in our lives and I think we would all agree that a certain amount of stress is unavoidable, even useful, but when it reaches a certain level, we can feel tired, tense, overwhelmed and no longer in control.
Have the opportunity of applying these ideas to your own experience, through regular meditation practice, through discussion with other participants, through exercises done in class and through weekly home practice
Taking inspiration from our popular ‘Walks to Wellbeing’ course, the ’Mindful Walks’ workshops will provide the opportunity to connect as a group whilst taking in the beauty of our home city. We will access calm amidst the hustle & bustle through a range of exercises focusing on the senses ...
