Lyrical dance is some what a merging of ballet and jazz styles, using music with lyrics that inspire the choreographer/dancer to interpret the emotions of the song.
At Dance Steps this organic class is a merging of lyrical dance with a contemporary and a modern dance mix. The class encourages self expression and interpretation using a dancers inherent dance background but also using unrestricted movements. In the advanced classes a separate modern teacher also exposes the dancers to concepts of contraction and release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation.
To ensure the health and safety of our students, teachers and staff, Dance Steps has implemented Covid - 19 procedures to diminish risks associated with the virus. We will follow guidelines outlined by the Ontario government and consequently these procedures may change and evolve over time with the guidelines.

Emotion, Expression, Interpretation. Blending Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance, you will explore and discover new ways to express yourself through music, poetry and composition.
Lyrical requires the dancer to express themselves through their body. Young dancers aspire to take their turn in Lyrical. Lovely to watch and rewarding to perform.
This is a low intensity program designed for the student who loves to dance without the demand or commitment of the competitive student. Children may be prepared for exams at the teacher’s discretion and local competition(s) in the disciplines they are taking.
Lyrical I is an introductory class that combines the foundation of Classical Ballet as well as Contemporary, Jazz and Modern movements to invoke an emotion in both the dancer and the audience. It encourages students to "break out of their shell" and explore their feelings in a movement-based way!
Children will begin to learn jazz and lyrical technique in this exciting sessional class!
