These classes provide an affordable option for learning music in a group setting. Classes will run depending on interest and require a minimum of 3 students so bring a friend and join the fun!
Situated in the heart of Nelson, we offer opportunities to learn an instrument and to rehearse and perform as an individual or as part of a group. We are also a performance venue and our audiences enjoy concerts held in the Nelson School of Music Auditorium and brand new performance space in the Rainey Wing.
We are a non-profit, charitable organisation and operate with generous support from Nelson City Council in the form of an annual grant as well as funding from a small number of key funding partners.

We are excited to announce a new and unique music programme which allows students to learn to play their instrument in the most fun way imaginable.
Learning anything musical is a great choice. Music often makes people happy, whether they're involved passively or actively. If you can learn to play, write, produce or record music, you're basically set (on a positive trajectory) for the rest of your life.
The Cadet band is for beginner musicians who can read some music (you don't have to know all of the notes as you can learn that along the way).
Whether you are starting a new hobby or dusting off old skills, we can help. Making music is a fantastic hobby which is both relaxing and challenging. At Technics you choose a program to suit your schedule and goals.
Music Theory classes are offered by Hastings Piano Teacher. Hastings piano teacher Wendy Hunt is the person for you. Wendy is happy to teach all, from young children to mature adults, from beginners to advanced students.Â
