We only offer one-on-one sessions to ensure the student is not being held back or left behind by the rest of the class. We find students improve faster, enjoy the instrument more, and gain more confidence as a result. We teach music theory to all students as part of each of our instrument lessons; however, pure music theory is also available.
Understanding music theory is like learning the language of music. Music theory takes you through the theoretical elements of music including sound and pitch, rhythm, melody, harmony and notation.
We offer one-on-one, 30-minute lessons suitable for beginners or younger students. This offers a great opportunity to learn the basics in a time frame that is manageable for younger students. As students get older and more proficient in the theories we will look to lengthen the lessons to 45 minutes or an hour as well as adding in different instruments.
We also provide one-on-one lessons for adults, catering the structure and content to each adult student’s learning style and previous music experience.
You do not need any instrument to take on music theory lessons, but it is strongly encouraged, as it will develop your understanding more quickly.
If you require help finding a great instrument, please get in touch, as we have a great network of stores we can refer you to. We recommend that you buy the best instrument you can afford to ensure you can make the best sounding music possible.
