Through our programs and music therapy services, today we serve nearly 3,000 children every year at our location in West Town and ten partner organizations, six of which are Chicago Public Elementary schools. Approximately 20% of the children we serve have diverse learning abilities and over 50% of the children we serve are economically disadvantaged.

Founded, as the Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians in 1981, we launched our inaugural classes teaching 15 families of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds through our unique curriculum integrating the Suzuki and Orff methodologies.
In 1986, we expanded on our goal to make music education available to children in Chicago by establishing partnerships with a number of Chicago Public Schools (CPS). In 2014, we began doing business as the Chicago Center for Music Education (ChiME).

Classes are taught by nationally acclaimed musicians in an environment that nurtures individual achievement and creativity, giving our students the opportunity to reach their full musical potential while developing a life-long love of the arts.
Dance for Theater, is a 1.5 hr class, that will include 45 minutes of Tap for Musical Theater and 45 minutes of Classical Music Theater Jazz. As we work on the student’s knowledge/vocabulary of steps, we will also have a strong focus on stretching and strengthening dancers
Love Hamilton, Wicked, or Rent? How about Annie, or Cats? Join this class, and let the world hear your voice! Students will develop their budding voices in a fun, relaxed atmosphere that focuses on joyous music-making
Musical Theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue and dance. This well rounded program emphasizes on the “triple threat” of the dance/theatre world. Students will work on the technique of all three aspects (voice, drama, and dance)
