We incorporate Jazz dance moves into our Musical Theatre sessions and advise that students attend all 3 sessions that we deliver to engage fully with the content of the piece.
Gipton Together work towards putting on one full show per year as well as showcasing parts of our work in our Variety Shows and Galas.
Since its launch in January 2003 Gipton Together has worked with children/young people aged 5yrs -18 yrs. from the communities of Gipton/Harehills and surrounding areas, areas scant of opportunities for young people.
Through arts and sports activities for young people our sessions act as a crime prevention and crime diversionary alternative.
Gipton Together addresses social exclusion providing community based activities, and a safe place for children/young people to go in the evenings - and alternative to 'hanging out' on the streets.
We encourage young people to participate, to acquire and develop their ‘transferable’ skills, to raise their aspirations, to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, self-esteem and confidence; and with the support of the wider community, to challenge the barriers between generations.
The ability to perform using multiple skills dancing and singing is the expected norm for the industry.
Musical Theatre classes are offered by SR Dance Academy. We provide dance classes to children and adults. We offer a safe haven for students to meet new friends, express themselves through dance and overall build self esteem.
Our classes are designed to help children and young people grow in to confident individuals whether they wish to pursue a career in the performing arts industry or not.
House of Dance offer a supportive and inclusive environment for all children to develop confidence, life skills and acting experience.
As seen in musicals, Jazz dance has been popular for decades.
