The Richmond Academy is a member of the BC Dance Educator’s Association, Richmond Chamber of Commerce, West Coast Tap Dance Collective, BC Alliance for Arts and Culture, Richmond Arts Council, Canadian Dance Assembly, BC Artist Registry, Candance.org and has teachers who have obtained Registered Teacher Status with various international organizations including the Royal Academy of Dance.
The emphasis is on teaching the student how to use their voice and facial expression to add to their dance repertoire, creating a more diverse and complete performer.
Develop the art of performance encompassing drama, dance, singing, and vocal training by studying the music and themes from Broadway, theatre, and film.
Students in this class will receive more advanced instruction in musical theatre. Students will learn more challenging songs and have opportunities for solos. This class will prepare a production of “Chicago”. Counts as two classes.
Music Theatre classes are offered by Rosemarie Peart Music Studio. We accept students ages 4 and up including adults and students with various skill levels and learning history.
Modern Theatre combines a genre of dance elements characterized by poetic movement and free-style expression in disciplines such as Jazz and Ballet. Based on the ISTD syllabus, exam and free-style classes are available.
