This qualification is designed for learners wishing to gain an apprenticeship within the Civil Engineering industry. You will gain the skills and knowledge to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the role of a Civil Engineer working in the built environment sector.
Overview
Civil Engineers keep our towns and cities running smoothly by engineering the infrastructure we use in our everyday lives including roads, bridges, water supplies and buildings. They design and install the networks that supply energy such as gas and electricity, along with communications to our homes and public buildings.
This qualification is designed for learners wishing to gain an apprenticeship within the Civil Engineering industry. You will gain the skills and knowledge to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the role of a Civil Engineer working in the built environment sector.
Apprentices must be fully employed with a civil engineering employer from commencement of the course. They receive no training allowance from the College but are paid by their employer. No fees are associated with this programme.
Onus is on applicants to secure employment in addition to meeting the entry criteria for the apprenticeship programme.
This apprenticeship programme also maps directly to Professional EngTech Accreditation through Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Year 1 & 2: College 1 day per week (extended day) and with employer 4 days per week.

This course will provide you with a range of construction operations skills and knowledge. You will also develop an understanding of the health and safety requirements for working in the construction industry, and the industry itself.
The qualification is designed to train people in construction operations such as laying kerbs and channels to recognise industry standards.
This programme helps Civil Engineering students fulfil the requirements of the competence based component and allows them to demonstrate underpinning knowledge and professional attributes.
