Roles may include business owner, tourism operations manager, business development manager and general manager, or trade development manager.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
Analyse and evaluate local, national and international tourism operating environments in order to effectively develop and guide strategic direction of a business in the tourism industry.
Analyse strategic leadership roles and styles, and their potential impact on change management for a tourism enterprise.
Develop, analyse and critique tourism market trends, and tourism business strategic systems and processes that enable the commercial development of a high-quality visitor experience and contribute to overall sustainability of an effective business.
Prepare effective public relations campaigns including multi-media communications for a tourism business development.
Investigate and evaluate a range of strategic business models to inform the development of improvements to environmental sustainability for a tourism business or tourism business development.
Develop strategic investment plans for a tourism enterprise.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have:
NZ Diploma in Tourism and Travel (Level 5); or a recognised equivalent, Special and Discretionary Admission is available.
International applicants are required to have an IELTS score of 6.0 (general or academic) with no individual band lower than 5.5 from one test taken in the preceding two years, or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules.
