This session is aimed at nursing staff wishing to refresh and update their knowledge on pain. The pathophysiological mechanisms of the main types of pain are revised including on a discussion on chronic pain and the pain ladder.
The session looks at pharmacological interventions including a focus on opioid analgesia, dosage calculations and pain assessment. Further practical advice on non-pharmacological interventions is given with a discussion on holistic pain management.
