We believe that giving children the opportunity to improve their immediate community will enable them to see the power of art and the ability within themselves to bring about positive change in their environment.
Founded in 2008 by Kristen Rice, Color Me Empowered is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering at-risk children while improving neglected communities through public art. By engaging the children of a community, we endeavor to engage the entire community and bring about positive change.
Basic knowledge of shading and sketching is required for drawing, and ability to achieve the desired color and render using a selected painting medium is required for painting.
Designed for teen students who want to focus on mastering technical skills in the drawing medium. Students will explore the elements and principles of art and design through fun and engaging drawing projects.
Various crafts are used for younger students as well as for seasonal activities.Students use drawing, paintings and sculptural techniques on craft activities.
Learning the basics of light painting gives us new ways to creatively experiment with the color and qualities of the light source and with the aesthetics of the photograph.
This class serves as a bridge between our upper level Studio Art classes, Digital and our Anime & Comics courses, incorporating projects from both tracks to introduce students to many different styles of art, and help them find their strengths and interests.
