Components of our phonics class and Reading Programme
My First English Class
Classes of no more than six students are introduced to phonics, intonation, rhythm, pronunciation, and articulation through songs and rhymes. They learn how to confidently address a group aloud. Students build stronger vocabularies using pictures of animals, objects and people.
My English Foundation Class
Students gain the basic skills needed to progress to a complete phonics programme while building expressive, listening and social skills along with phonemic awareness.
My Reading Readiness Class
Students gain the advanced phonics manipulation skills needed to progress to the reading class while building oral fluency, listening and comprehension skills.
My Reading Class
Students progress steadily through a series of lessons that give them the ability to decode the printed letters that make up any written word in English, whether or not they have ever seen the word before, independent of meaning or context.
Many early childhood studies have found strong links between early literacy and success in schools and in society. More than 90% of the brain development of a child occurs at the age of 0 to 5 years.
Hence early literacy experiences are critical to the brain development. Studies have also shown that children who have attended two years of primary school and cannot read may never be able to read.
