At DMI we only employ professional musicians. That is, musicians who are actively earning an income from teaching piano lessons and performing their trade! That’s important because a working pro won’t just run scales or teach chords, they have an entirely different conversation with their students

That’s important because a working pro won’t just run scales or teach chords, they have an entirely different conversation with their students. When you are out in the world and in front of audiences on a regular basis, you understand not just how to play music, but how to play it so that it connects with people. Let’s face it, connecting with people through music is better than just playing it!
So regardless of the genre you are interested in, or your skill level… we have something to get you going! Especially when you factor in our workshops that round off piano knowledge and knowledge of the music industry, our Master Classes and recitals, DMI students are better prepared for a transition into applying their talents with a performance group or in whatever way lines up with their goals!
Originally a radio station in the 1970s, then becoming the Denver Music Institute in 1999, DMI has been a staple in Denver and surrounding areas for local musicians. Starting July of 2016, business partners, Alan Currens and Dana Wield took ownership of DMI with a vision in mind.
