Program Description
This Program will cover basic areas in Administration, Business, Communications, Plumbing Knowledge, Fixtures and Faucets, Water Supply Systems, Water Heating, Drain, Waste and Vent Systems, System Sizing, Gas and Troubleshooting, and a basic tool as Computer Drafting. It is also oriented to gain a full knowledge of the State of Florida Code requirements.

South Florida Institute of Technology Inc. (the "School") was founded in October of 1997. At its commencement, the School offered Computer Business Application and Computer Graphic Design. It was originally located in a small facility at 2141 SW 1st Street, Ste. # 104, Miami, FL 33135.
In July 2005, the School relocated to a larger facility at 720 NW 27th Ave. 2nd Floor, Miami, FL 33125 and added the Medical Assistant, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Repair Technician, and Electrical Construction Technician programs. In July 2008 the School added the Plumbing Technology Program.
The School was accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) in February 2002 and its re-accreditation for five years in August 2006. The School added its Satellite (additional location) in January 2008 and it was accredited by the same agency (ACCSC) on February 15, 2008.

This program provides learners the entry level skills required to start a career in plumbing in residential and commercial environments. Tasks include installing, maintaining, and repairing many different types of pipe systems.
This program is an introduction to common construction skills to include safety; codes; construction drawings; tools; fixtures; pipes and fittings; drain, waste, and vent systems; and water distribution systems.
In an apprenticeship program like plumbing, you’ll gain experience through on-the-job training and coursework provided by apprenticeship partners. Plumber apprenticeship programs typically last four to five years.
The Plumber Preapprenticeship in construction is a 1-year program designed for persons who would like to learn about installing, repairing, and maintaining, pipes, valves, and drainage systems.
The Occupational Certificate prepares you for an entry-level career. Our hands-on training will teach you the different types of water supply systems, reading and sketching blueprints, plumbing codes, and how to install and maintain plumbing piping and fixtures.
