You are free to choose what to make. I will provide technical help and guidance and suggest projects if needed. Artnest's library has a large selection of books that are great for inspiration.
Making ceramics is a long process. You need a minimum of three sessions to be able to create, a ready to use piece.
The typical process starts with design and hand building. The created form needs to be bone dry, before first firing to 1000 deg C. In the next phase, you decorate your piece using the technique of your choice. The final firing depends on your chosen decoration method.
There's nothing more rewarding than opening the kiln to see your newborn masterpiece. Clay, tools, glazes, firing are available at Artnest. Aprons are also available at the studio but it’s important to dress in clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
I have always been fascinated by ceramics, but my true passion for art began with a job transfer to Singapore nineteen years ago. I was lucky enough to meet a number of great artists and teachers, who helped me weave my feelings into a creative process.
Inspired by the possibility of turning mud into art, I chose to study Ceramics at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art. I then gave up my professional career, and returned home to Sydney, to open my very own studio, Artnest.
These are a one-off 2-2.5 hour class and consist of basic wheel throwing or Hand-building. You’ll have a brief studio tour and explanation of the ceramic process on arrival.
Pottery classes are a fantastic way to get in contact with the tactile nature of clay. Our classes are designed to build your knowledge in pottery techniques, whether for wheel throwing or hand building in a fun and relaxed environment.

Making (throwing) pots on the pottery wheel is a bit of a process its a good idea to book at least 2 wheel classes * they don't have to be consecutive.
