“The Pre-School Dance curriculum aims to capture and nurture young children’s instinctive joy of movement and freedom of expression.
Through participation, children should learn to move and learn through movement in a child-centred learning environment that encourages exploration, independence and social interaction.
The Pre-School Dance is designed to enable children to participate in dance activities that are developmentally appropriate, helping to facilitate the learning of dance skills at a later age.
Through participation, children can be motivated to continue with dance throughout childhood and beyond, acquiring the skills and attitudes necessary for leading healthy and active lives.”*
We teach the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus, American Jazz Dance Affiliation jazz syllabus, and New Zealand Association of Modern Dance tap and contemporary syllabus, offering students the opportunity to sit annual examinations.
Our premises includes two spacious dance studios which can be opened out into one larger space, with polished wooden floors, barres and mirrors. We have a large waiting areas with viewing windows into each studio, as well as a uniform shop on site.

Ballet is a formalized style of dance to create expression through movement. At Auckland Academy of Dance, we teach the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabi from Pre School— Solo Seal.
This energetic class consists of foundational jazz dance elements including; counting & timing, directional changing, spotting, body alignment, contractions, isolations, jumps, turns and combinations.
These classes provide your young dancer access to technical and artistic skills of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance skills taught at an age appropriate level through a fun and creative lens.
Ballet is a great technical foundation for all dance genres.
