Ballet is a formalized style of dance to create expression through movement. At Auckland Academy of Dance, we teach the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabi from Pre School— Solo Seal.
Graded ballet classes are taught for school-aged children from 5 – 18years. Ballet students in Grades 1 – 5 are expected to attend two classes a week to sit the RAD examination.
Vocational Ballet students are expected to do a minimum of two classes per week, but must attend three classes per week including Open Classes if they wish to sit the examination.
Training by Industry Professionals in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz & hip hop, Musical Theatre, Tap, Singing, Acting & Stage Fighting.
During a private lesson, dancers can expect to work on specific areas of syllabus, improve general technique and apply corrections, and be taken through a dance-specific strength and conditioning program designed just for them.Â
This energetic class consists of foundational jazz dance elements including; counting & timing, directional changing, spotting, body alignment, contractions, isolations, jumps, turns and combinations.

Beginner Ballet is a more informative and ballet-specific class, with a focus on learning the basics of ballet required in a creative yet structured way.Â
This is the final step in preschool ballet, by term 3 they formally change to Pre Primary and start learning the work for their first exam (don't worry, these exams are much like training wheels: they are just important so they learn the ropes).
