Pre-School lessons are fun half hour classes for children from the age of two and a half, with the first lesson free. Classes incorporate lots of music Pre-School children will know. Classes available are Funky Steps (for movers & groovers), Fairy Feet (pre-school ballet) and Mini Movers (4 year olds only).

The classes incorporates moves that helps to develop co-ordination, musicality and confidence. Using props in the class also adds to the interest and excitement for the children. After the first lesson a concession card can be purchased for $30.00 which covers 5 lessons and is able to be used over a period of three months. We have a fun relaxed mid-year Pre-School dance concert, the children love the opportunity to perform in front of family and friends.

Auckland West Dance Academy is a Glen Eden dance school established over 45 years ago providing high-quality dance tuition by qualified teachers. Dance classes are taught in a warm and friendly environment. Students have the opportunity to perform on stage in the annual dance concert and enter into examinations, assessments, or medal tests.

Dance styles taught are Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical/Contemporary, Tap as well as Body Conditioning/Technical classes, competition dancing and private lessons are available.

We offer classes for preschoolers, girls, boys, teenagers, and adults. Class numbers are restricted to ensure that each student can get the individual attention that they require.

All teachers are fully qualified and are members of RAD, JDNZ, NZAMD, and BAL. There are 3 dance studios (studio 1 upstairs, studios 2 and 3 downstairs); there is an office with a dancewear shop and a waiting area with tea/coffee facilities for parents.

Stevie started dancing at 3 years old at Auckland West Dance Academy taking JDNZ Jazz. She had always had a passion for jazz to where she found a love for BAL Ballet, RAD Ballet, Contemporary and Lyrical at the age of 13. Never would she think she would be doing Hip Hop, starting Hip Hop in 2018 and is now studying RBM Hip Hop. In 2016 Stevie performed in both Tempo and The Short & Sweet Festival through The Friday Company performing a piece called “Contrapostion”. Stevie discovered her love for competition with the AWDA Troupes at the age of 13 and started to perform solo at 18. Stevie has been teaching at Auckland West Dance Academy since she was 16 years old teaching Pre School, to now teaching Jazz, Ballet and Lyrical. She has also been very fortunate to teach dancers solo and duo pieces for national and international competitions. Throughout her dance journey she has competed a Certificate of Ballet through Royal Academy of Dance and is a member of JDNZ and NZAMD.
