This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work.
The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.
It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies.
It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work. It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work.
Construction and building sites are necessary to help build the infrastructure, housing and services that we all rely on every day.
However, these sites can also be extremely dangerous and present those working on them with significant risk of injury or worse.
CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry course gives workers the skills and knowledge they need to identify and understand the health and safety requirements and legislation that exist to protect themselves and others.
You may know this course as the “white card”.This nationally recognised course is mandatory for any persons working on a building or construction site in any capacity and is held regularly at our training centres.
