One of the advantages of training with an established airline is that opportunities may arise whereby you can join a scheduled flight service during your training, giving you more insight into Air Transport Operations.
Sunair Aviation Ltd is a privately owned and operated NZ business which has enjoyed a safe operating history spanning more than 30 years, something we are all very proud of. Initially starting as a commuter operator to Motiti Island in the Bay of Plenty with one aircraft, we now operate a fleet of twin engine & single engine aeroplanes, in New Zealand. Sunair is a fully licensed Regional Air Transport Operator offering scheduled services between 6 provincial Cities.
We also offer Scenic and Charter Flights as well as a busy Flight Training Program. As is the case with all airlines including the likes of Air New Zealand Ltd, we are fully audited every year, by the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority, on matters of safety and maintenance. The Company has a wealth of experience and knowledge across our senior management team who provide oversight on a day to day basis.
Sunair is based at Tauranga City Airport but with further crew bases at Great Barrier Island, Hamilton, & Whangarei, providing a route structure encompassing: Ardmore - Hamilton – Tauranga – Whitianga – Whangarei & Great Barrier Island.
With these services throughout the upper North Island, we provide valuable travel links between provincial centres without needing to go via Auckland or Wellington. This offers same day travel on business or medical matters, without needing costly overnight accommodation - a service which has proved valuable to the Northland community through daily transport for essential medical personnel between Whangarei and Kaitaia.
We operate about 4000 departures a year and to date have accumulated over 60,000 flying hours. We are proud to have over 2000 regular customers and agents using our services.
