Who Should Attend (Pre-requisite)?
New or existing users with up to 1 year experience in using PV Elite © software in pressure vessel design.
Course Outline:
In these three (3) consecutive days, you will be able to:
Determine shell thicknesses of cylindrical shell and dish head due to Internal and hydrostatic pressure, and external pressure due to vacuum conditions. Stiffener ring design and positioning.
Determine MAWP and MAP of the vessel and hydrotest results.
Determine the shell thickness for lower end cylindrical shell and dish head, skirt support and base ring due to wind and seismic load, internals and externals weight like trays, packing, platform, ladder as well as combined loads (wind, seismic, weight, pressure).
Determine required reinforcement at cylindrical shell and dish head due to shell opening, nozzle loadings (sustained load, pipe expansion/contraction, occasional load)
Perform rigging analysis for the lifting of vertical vessel and tailing lug calculation, input design parameters for horizontal vessel using productive features.
Design for the saddle support, base plate, rib and web.
Identify type of common stresses at horizontal supported pressure vessel.
Apply corrective methods in reducing the stress at horn of saddle, tip of wear plate, shell plate at the saddle and dish head (if applicable).
Select suitable dish head for high pressure operation.. Comparison study for various dish head –semi ellipse, tori spherical and hemispherical head.
Apply code case – 2260 “Alternative design rules for ellipsoidal and tori spherical formed heads.
Perform comparison study for different codes used for heavy wall pressure vessel design using ASME Section VIII, Division 1 & 2 and PD5500.
Design saddle type nozzle/ insert plate for nozzle opening reinforcement.
Design support lugs for the vessel and local stress analysis.
Topics will expose users to ASME Code Section VIII, Division 1 & 2, PD5500, Zick method and WRC 107.
