You will develop a greater awareness of manual handling, including: common manual handling injuries, the safe movement principles, theory of safe manual handling principles and manual handling equipment.

What Will You Gain?

By attending this Level 2 Manual Handling course, you will understand the causes of common manual handling injuries and the types of injury poor manual handling can cause.

You will also understand the manual handling regulations, including the responsibilities of employers and employees.

When you return to the workplace, you will be able to undertake an effective manual handling risk assessment and understand the control measures you can put in place to reduce the risk of harm and how to implement them.

You will be able to demonstrate compliance with legislation and prove due diligence through training records and certificates.  In addition, you, your business and your customers will be protected.

Who Should Attend?

It is suitable for all employees to raise their awareness of the risks of unsafe manual handling practices.  It is also perfect for people who might have to carry out manual handling as part of their job.

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 apply to almost all work environments from offices to care homes and factories.

This Level 2 Manual Handling course is a theory based qualification.  Candidates who need practical training should attend the one day Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling course.

Why’s It Important?

Employers are required by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 to ensure that all employees are trained and competent in manual handling.

Manual Handling injuries are responsible for over one-third of the accidents and lost working time in the workplace. Not only is the individual affected, but the costs to businesses and society can also be enormous.

Inappropriate manual handling can result in your employees suffering immediate acute injuries such as sprains, strains, torn ligaments and even fractures, as well as long term chronic conditions affecting the back, shoulders, wrists, elbows and knees.

The cost of ignoring the need for manual handling training can be expensive. If employees have time off work with poor health related to manual handling, this will cost your business money. In addition, fines and compensation payments for incidents relating to manual handling have reached over £100,000.
